Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

Your Water Heater Warranty Is Protected by Law

Since 1975, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, has prohibited manufacturers from voiding a warranty solely because a third-party product, such as Corro-Protec, was used. Installing an aftermarket part does not invalidate a water heater warranty, and manufacturers are not allowed to claim otherwise.

Prohibited actions by manufacturers under U.S. law include:

- Threatening customers with warranty loss for installing an aftermarket part

- Void a warranty solely due to the use of a third-party product

- Requiring customers to use their brand’s parts to maintain warranty coverage

Consumers are fully entitled to maintain their water heaters, including replacing the anode rod with a high-quality alternative like Corro-Protec.

A warranty can only be denied if:

1. The manufacturer can prove that the aftermarket part caused the issue

2. They provide an equivalent part free of charge

Corro-Protec is entirely compatible, safe to install, and used in thousands of homes across North America without impacting warranty coverage.
